Powering Communities for Zero Hunger: A look back at FY2020

Dear Partner– Today, we are releasing our FY2020 Annual Report which reviews our strategies and results for the period July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020. This past fiscal year has been like none other in The Global FoodBanking Network’s (GFN) history. After approving a new strategic plan in June 2019, GFN expanded its network to include new food banking organizations in India, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. We doubled down on our efforts to source more nutritious food to support those facing food insecurity, and made new investments to address the devastating epidemic of child hunger. Collectively the network served more than 16.9 million people facing hunger, a 76% increase over the previous year.  And since March, our singular focus has been supporting food banks worldwide in responding to the emergency hunger crisis caused by COVID-19.  We invite you to spend time with our Annual Report, to understand our FY2020 strategies and impact and to see where we’re headed. We hope that the data and stories included demonstrate how your support is fighting hunger and strengthening communities around the world. We also encourage you to explore our work further and engage in the conversation with us on FacebookInstagramTwitter and LinkedIn, or by signing up for our e-newsletter. Thank you for ongoing support and interest in GFN; your time, energy and resources drive us. To our amazing network and partners – we couldn’t do any of this work without you. Today hunger is a more acute and pervasive challenge than it has been in decades. But the response of food banks in 900+ communities worldwide is reason to hope. This work is only made possible thanks to partners like you. On behalf of our board of directors and staff, thank you. A future without hunger is achievable, with your help. My best, Lisa Moon President and CEO The Global FoodBanking Network
