Dear Partner–
Hunger is spiking worldwide. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to threaten countless communities. Yet when compassionate people like you commit to build a better world, radical change is possible. We move closer to the day when no one struggles with hunger.
Today is
World Food Day, when people unite to advocate for a #ZeroHunger future. On this important day, all of us at The Global FoodBanking Network are raising our voices for a hunger-free tomorrow.
Please join us in spreading the word about World Food Day.
As the global leader in uniting food banks, The Global FoodBanking Network knows that partnership is the key to alleviating world hunger. According to our new report released today,
The State of Global Food Banking 2020, caring supporters like you helped GFN member food banks:
- Provide significantly more meals to more households in 2019, offering nourishment and hope to 16.9 million people around the world.
- Prevent more food waste than ever before, diverting 3.75 million metric tons of perfectly good food from landfills to hungry communities in 2019.
- Respond proactively to the pandemic, serving an estimated 5 million additional people from January-May 2020 and providing critical relief in 51 countries from March-June 2020 alone.
Today we are celebrating the progress we’ve made with your generous support. But we know that we have a long way to go before we can declare victory. Families that were on the brink of hunger before the pandemic simply can’t make ends meet anymore.
Your compassion and support are vital right now.
Join us today, World Food Day, and in the coming days, as we show our commitment to fighting hunger and #ServingHope:
Together, we can provide more meals and hope to children and families around the world. Thank you for everything you do to bring us closer to a world free from hunger.
My best,
Lisa Moon
