As a result of the conflict in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chains are disrupted and food prices are spiking. Rising food prices don’t affect everybody equally. Individuals and families with lower incomes are expected to be impacted most.
In this global context, food banks will be needed as much as any time in recent memory. They step up to meet increased need for food relief when communities are faced with unimaginably difficult situations. During emergencies, food banks know how to source food in times of scarcity, distribute food when supply chains are broken, and meet needs when prices spike.
GFN supports the world’s most geographically diverse food bank network, active in more than 40 countries and thousands of communities. Our work helps food banks build stronger, more resilient food systems—before, during, and after crisis situations.
Your support is crucial to building a world where everyone has consistent access to wholesome food.
Create your own fundraiser today to amplify your impact. When your friends and family donate to your personal fundraising campaign, they are supporting over 949 community-based food banks in 44 countries!
To help make fundraising as simple as possible, we have developed a toolkit with everything you need to reach your goals including suggested social media outreach and graphics. Download here.
